Talked to WestJet again. Nobody has turned in my camera and they don't know where it might be. Lady suggested I call the next city where the plane might have landed. Camera probably gone forever and ever. I AM SUCH A MORON.

*hates everything*

*returns to couch to cuddle the dog*

These are just the kinds of things that happen in Alberta. Don't blame yourself; it's the huge sucking black hole of the prairies.

And, I'm super sorry about your camera, hon. :(

I hate Alberta, and apparently it hates me back.

Now the real question: how long to wait before giving up and turning to drink/replacing the camera in Alberta where there is no HST?

This question requires two other questions:

a) How long are you there? and
b) Where is the nearest FutureShop?

I am here until Sunday, and the nearest Future Shop is about 15 minutes away. We are going there this evening to buy artemisiabrisol a new TV, because she has been here two months and still does not have one, and we obviously cannot watch Psych, Chuck and Castle on the couch in our pajamas without a TV.

I just can't decide when I should give up hope, because the WestJet lady basically told me there was no set timeline for when it might be turned in by any of the responsible parties involved, assuming it gets turned in and some fellow passenger didn't just walk off with it.

Right, so. Even if you get it back, there is no way this nice camera won't at least return some of its value were you to sell it on eBay or something, right? Like, if you got it back, that would be more like a windfall or something at this point? Or you could even possibly return the new one.

(I would just buy the new one, but I'm a cynic and I don't believe airlines tell the truth about lost and founds.)

After talking to Mum, I think I am going to buy it, since no, neither do I believe either the airline or the airport when they say it is simply lost in the aether between "being found" and "being turned in to lost and found." I think what is most likely is that it should have been found by WestJet staff, and it should have been turned in, or it should have been found by the groomers, and then should have been turned in - either way it *should* have been turned in by now, and they know it, and they know that probably somebody under their authority either lost it or walked off with it, but they're not going to fess up.

SO! I am going to buy the camera. Because a) this one is the current model with higher max resolution and comes with an extra zoom lens I've been trying to amass the scratch to purchase for three years which they are selling for what amounts to 32 dollars and b) the kit is $80 cheaper here than in BC thanks to the lack of PST. And I think I can certainly get 400-ish bucks for it on Craigslist at the very least, which yeah, would be a windfall.

Also Mum has hinted that my birthday present next year may well be a bank transfer for the value of the camera, so.

Why do I only ever get shiny new toys after something horrible happens? Today we took the dog for a walk in the Coolies and she met a porcupine. The afternoon was spent waiting for the vet to finish plucking spines from her face. IDIOT DOG.

Ouch! Poor doggie. At least she learned a valuable lesson.

Yeah, probably not. In some way's she's really not all that bright. o.O
