On second thought...

...nope, I decided this deserves its own entry.

ETA: CEREBRAL AND MATURE? JoeM, have you SEEN the PR that is being released to the public? I mean, HAVE YOU? AT ALL? I'm not calling you a liar, or anything, but W.T.F.

Would be louder in my incredulity, but am actually in Shakespeare class. *hides*

LOL I read that too. I hope someone C&P that part about "young and hip" or whatever it was to his blog. :/

Have you seen these character breakdowns? I mean, WHAT.

Tell me how 'every teenaged girl's dream' and 'silver spoon' reads cerebral and mature to ANYONE BUT DELUSIONAL PEOPLE. Not to mention the 'think mixture of [stereotypical sexy male] and [stereotypical jock]' descriptions.

Yeah, I'm sorry Joe, but you've proven yourself to be completely off-base before, and you're off-base now. He's not even in charge of it, is he? He's protested over and over that he's not the lead go-to guy for SGU, and this opinion is certainly not credible in my eyes when compared with Wright's consistent phrasing of 'young and desperate.'

I'm sorry, that's 'sex with indiscriminate partners' in the tv world, pure and simple.

The only positive thing about this is his realization that yes, people ARE negatively reacting to the news, and his knowledge of our nicknames for the series. Please, God, if they're going to do this thing, let them listen to the fans and at the very least make it not suck. Remember, Joe, what you guys did in relation to Flanigan's lack of chemistry with the other female leads. YOU GAVE UP (for the most part), and the show was the better for it. Impress upon your fellows the wisdom of listening to the people that keep you on the air? Even when our devotion is rewarded with the steaming pile of crap that is the cancellation of a good, solid series to be replaced with Stargate: Voyager 90210?

It's weird, I read his post and I was like, "Wow. He is really gunning for a job, here." That's just pathetic. SGU is going to blow, I don't care who he's trying to convince.

I think a lot of what he says is conditioned by the fact that he's still committed (mentally, not contractually yet) to SGA movies. He can't burn bridges. He may be the show runner on SGA, but Wright and Cooper are the big cheeses. Plus they're people he still works with - can we say awkward?

I'm right with you though - the guy needs to look at the PR coming out about the show, because no way, no how do the character specs read as "cerebral." And he can tell us to 'wait and see' all he wants but . . . most of us are not going to tune in at *all*.
