More on the self-righteous library assistants from Kentucky...

Heard of the library assistants in Kentucky who stole library copy of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen to keep an 11-year-old patron from checking it out? After abusing their privileges as library employees to find out the identity of said patron? It still isn't over. Apparently, "the community" (by which I mean a bunch of self-righteous evangelists who have absolutely no business meddling in lawmaking) is rising up in their defence:

The petition requests the removal of Black Dossier from the collection along with Snuff by Chuck Palahniuk, the DVD of the film adaptation of Palahniuk’s novel Choke, and the DVD Ron White: You Can’t Fix Stupid, because the titles “offended me in that they depict sexual acts and/or describe such acts in a way that in my opinion are contrary to the Jessamine County public opinion” and endanger the public because they encourage sexual predators. The board is scheduled to meet again December 16.

Okay, okay, look. Most of this is just run-of-the-mill lunacy but the last bit? Encourage sexual predators? You people (and I use the term loosely) think that of all the titles in your average public library, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is going to... no, you know what? The idea that you can create a sexual predator with a comic book is so ignorant and ridiculous that I'm not even going to approach it with rational language. I'm just going to gape at the screen until it goes away. o.O

With any luck, these idiots will not only be fired, but barred from ever working in a library again. Honestly.
