My throat is sore and it's hard to swallow but I *can't* miss another week of school, because I've missed two, this year, altogether, and I don't know why I'm sick *again*, because generally I'm only sick one week a year and that's it, but hey, my throat, and I still have work to do today, and I haven't done it, and it's due tomorrow.

And I thought maybe the postman would come, because the truck was outside when I got home but I hadn't seen the postman, but the truck just drove away, and no mail, not even junk mail, and I want my package DAMNIT, because they said 8-10 business days and it's been ten today, eleven if you count the day they shipped it at ohmygodtheobscenity in the morning.

*glare*

I'm leery in general of St.-anything holidays, especially knowing, when I do, that they're crap and that the "historical" traditions of the holidays are made up of dozens of bits and pieces of different conflicting ancient myths and religions co-opted and anally-raped by the Catholic church.

So I propose that today we celebrate something more historically accurate: The St. Valentine's Day Massacre! The most spectacular mob hit of all time! I think a big street party with fake machine guns and fedoras would have much more mass appeal than lace, hearts, dead flowers, perfume, and widespread, consumeristically-driven accusations of insincerity. We could even make the machine guns out of chocolate. It'd be great. ;)

Ooh, hey! It's the TNG episode with the birth of Molly O'Brien! *scampers off to geek out*

The BC Liberal government has promised to create 25,000 new post-secondary spaces (which are mostly in middle-of-nowhere schools - University College of the Caribou? And where the hell is Northern Lights College?) in BC by 2010. They have been non-specific as to how. (Cue image of Jayne with knife and smirk.)

And now, some Monday Report:

"Outgoing U.S. Ambassador Paul Cellucci was quoted in the Globe and Mail today, urging Canadians not to be complacent about terrorism. Paul: we're Canadians. Urging Canadians not to be complacent is like urging Scandinavians not to be blond."

"Canada's women in Parliament: because women belong in the House."

Bwahah.

EDIT: Molson has been bought by Coors. Er. The end is nigh?

Oh my god the academic community is bankrupt, for there is absolutely no accurate depiction of fandom. I found *one* article on the ASE, and it only talks about anime and totally ignores everything else, and only talks about middle-schoolers. Gyagh. I keep thinking "Hey! Mary Sues! Girls! Bad and yet terrifyingly prodigious fanfiction everywhere! That's about gender! But there is *nothing*! *beats the stupid database*
