(no subject)

dragonfly13 was lamenting that she'll never have a boyfriend, and mik100 suggested:

mik100: You know, Orlando Bloom's single again. We could go Orlando-hunting.

dianahobart: (When Rissa made a weird face) Yeah, like you wouldn't date him.

dragonfly13: No, no - it's just that when you said "Orlando hunting" I got an image of Orlando, alone in the woods, and one of us with a net, and the other with a harpoon...

chandri: I think it would have to be non-lethal hunting.

mik100: One of us would need bait. Like, "here, Orlando! I've got an epic script for you!"

So, today was my birthday...

So this morning, when I woke up, there was an e-card for me from Mum. It was a big screen full of hundreds of smiling, dancing heart-shaped bubbles, and in order to view the message hidden underneath, you had to pop them. When you hovered over them with the cursor, they puffed out their cheeks and made terrified faces, and they made little noises of pain and surprise when you mercilessly crushed them, and then went splat. The message underneath read:
On this day 22 years ago I watched Shogun, went shopping at the old Woodwards store at Oakridge, had a baby and the groundhog told us we would have an early spring. Happy Birthday, Love Mummy.

My family is weird.

Thank the gods. ^.^

Anyway, I went to school, fell asleep in class a little, and sat through a ridiculously long lecture on homosexuality in The Last September (I know it's there, but two and a half hours is a bit long for three lines of double-entendre - I spend at least three hours a day on the internet, for crying out loud, and I don't think I could have read enough gay into that book to talk for half an hour, let alone two and a half. o.O).

After I got home, I was more or less planning to spend the rest of the day reading a bunch of painfully boring journal articles...

...but they threw me a party! Sort of. Anyway they (mik100, dianahobart and dragonfly13) appeared, unexpected, and bearing gifts and everything! I got plants (a spider plant baby - Ariadne - and a Mum plant - Eydie) and a candle and chocolate and Chapters money and a half-finished scarf! And then we watched Lost and ate dinner and mik100 baked me a cake. I am very impressed by this. Apparently Kim masterminded the entire thing. I was halfway through pulling out my homework when the buzzer rang and hey, there they were! It was fun. I felt all special. :)

I mean, they made me wear sparkly boingy star antennae on my head when we went out for groceries, but still. ;)

Good birthday. And there is still cake. ^.^

EDIT: I am never going to get the glitter out of my hair. DAMN YOU ALL. :P

SLIGHTLY SNARKIER EDIT: Also, you will all be pleased to know that I did *not* see my shadow this morning. :P

LAST EDIT, I SWEAR: Two things. First, thank you to all the people who wished me Happy Birthday on LJ today! Second, can someone send me a complete track listing to the first CD of the Dexcon album? I left it long, long ago in rayinmyrra's car and I don't think I'm ever getting it back...
