Ah, how my innocence has been sullied...

Animation school has utterly ruined me for movies and television. Really. I can't just enjoy something anymore without noticing the technical aspects. Especially the little mistakes. I think it really pisses everyone off when I sit there and point out little things that are totally meaningless to them, such as "Ooh, ooh! Continuity error!" I'm like the annoying guy from Undergrads. (Which is one reason I'm not overly enthusiastic to see the new Matrix - I've *heard* things. o.O).

Apparently Space is showing (again) Bakshi's Wizards. When I saw it last time, I knew it was fantastically bad. And that was without all the knowledge of all the cheesy shortcuts the guy takes. *Now*, it might be physically painful. Because I *know*. In fact Mocking Bakshi is a favourite topic of several of my teachers. Classical Animation has a Mock Bakshi Quarter Hour. Heh. ;) So maybe I'll just avoid Wizards this time 'round.

...Oh, no, it's Hercules in Space Andromeda. Run, run! (I often think that this show is one of those things Gene Roddenberry stashed in the back of a safe somewhere and is now spinning in his grave with pain, guilt and remorse that it was ever allowed to see the light of day. Ow, ow, the pain.)

Tomorrow, full day of animating. (*Silently prays that it will not become another three-day project, because being at school for three days straight is neither pleasant nor healthy.*) But after that, everything except IDV will be *done*. Two more projects. Tomorrow, one down. Then come home, pass out, get up late Monday morning, finish filming IDV, pass out again, possibly watch bits of Buffy Marathon and hope that very little of it is the current season (*gag*), go in Tuesday to capture video, sleep rest of Tuesday. This is The Plan.

Buffy no longer makes any sense. I don't think it's just me. Remind me again; out of whose ass was this current season pulled? Never mind. That's one of life's great mysteries. Like Halle Berry's career and people who slow down in Merge lanes.

mik100 gave me fic ideas for Buffy. And ideas for Buffy/So Weird crossovers. Curses.

I have stolen-off-the-set-of-the-X-Men movie sweatpants. It's good to have a neighbour who will steal things for you. :)

Tomorrow, I must take lunch, because the E-Cafe is closed on Sundays. Must take lunch...

This is what happens when everyone waits 'til the last minute... render final projects on computers that haven't had hardware updates since 1998. It is not a good thing. Half the computers are locked and rendering, and the other half are, predictably, running like molasses.

I've been here since 11:30 this morning (that early only because I forgot we had no more Life Drawing). I finished animating, more or less, around seven. Then I started rendering, locked the computer, went to have dinner. When I came back at 7:30pm, it had only rendered twenty frames. Out of 400. Now upstairs on a different computer and at a loss for anything *else* to do as I forgot to bring a book, I did some calculations.

It took 1800 seconds to render 20 frames.

There are 400 frames in the first piece.

400 frames divided by 20 frames = 20 groups of 20 frames.

So, 20 groups multiplied by 1800 seconds = 36000 seconds to render 400 frames.

36000 seconds divided by minutes (60) = 600 minutes, divided by hours (60) = 10 hours, with 0.5 hours elapsed.

It took 1800 seconds to render 20 frames.

1800 seconds divided by 20 frames is 90 seconds to render 1 frame.

90 seconds is 1.5 minutes.

1.5 minutes per frame multiplied by 400 frames = 600 minutes.

36000 divided by minutes (60) = 600 minutes.

Which is 10 hours to render 400 frames.

In addition, I have a 200 frame piece and a 60 frame piece. Which equal 5 hours and 1.5 hours render time, respectively. Which means that, without comandeering more computers to render, I'll be here a total of 16.5 hours. And even if I do comandeer more computers, I'll still be here at least 9.5 more hours. Unless it suddenly kicks up in speed (stranger things have happened) or, more likely, crashed five minutes after I left the room.

Gyaghh... *hits head on desk*

Then again, maybe my calculations are wrong. I hope my calculations are wrong. They *have* to be wrong...

I'm not tired yet, but I sure as hell am bored. o.O

Yup. I'm still here.

Turns out that my calculations *were* off. I mean, they weren't off, they were right for that computer. But around eight-thirty I set two other computers rendering the other two scenes, and now one's done, and the other two are about midway. 'Cause... that first computer? Sucks. The third one I hooked up is about twice as fast as the other two put together. It did 175 frames in an hour (I just realized that I can check the render progress over the network. Hee. :D). The other one's about twenty frames behind. But it might not be a ten-hour vigil, after all. I might even be out of here before midnight. Note: "might".

I am currently logged in to three computers, simeltaneously. I am godlike in my powers. Bwahah. Is polyniscient a word?

Printed out this, this, this, and this on the school's colour printer. 'Cause I'm bored. And all the colour printers in our house are dead/broken/out of some kind of ink. We have three of the bloody things and none of them are working. It's ridiculous. Gods, what I wouldn't give for a colour laser printer. School's got one but the desk is closed. Pout. Ah, well. They still look cool. ;)

I am a multi-lock. I am everyone's most hated nemesis. I am my own most hated nemesis. o.O

I know, I'm annoying and selfish. But they're almost done, and it isn't due 'til Wednesday. I just don't bloody feel like being here two days straight, and in any case I need Tuesday to capture my video.

Capture my video! Hee hee! Just three more scenes to film tomorrow, and then I capture! And then I can *edit*! *does a happy-dance* I should get a FireWire card, that's what I should do. Then I wouldn't have to drive out here every time I wanted to capture video. Won't be able to, soon. Will *have* to buy a card. And a, uh, camera of my own. That would probably help. Video editing is so *fun!*

Okay, so I'm a dork. ;) I've been here twelve hours now, less twenty-three minutes. I should go check on the render downstairs, make sure nobody's plotting my death for monopolizing render stations.

The fast render station is now running at about a minute a frame, at 225 out of 300 frames. I, like a genius, put the longer segment on the slower computer. *foreheadsmack*

The other station is at 221 out of 320 frames. Hey! It's catching up! *cheers on the slower computer*

So anyway... two and a half hours, averaged, barring miracles. Then editing.

I want caffeine. But the E-Cafe is closed, and everything else is closed, as well, and there isn't a Tim Horton's for twenty blocks in any direction. *sigh*
