This follows Knitted Goods, which is very short and very fluffy, just like Rodney's comfort sweater.

This particular story is also fluffy, but in no way short, and notable in that it actually contains actual sex. (HA.) Blame Thanks for this go to mik100, who dared me, artemisiabrisol, who did the full-body beta, and to the brave porn betas who dared the first glance at the first sex scene I have written outside of a novel in eek! nine years: siriaeve, hestia_lacey, dogeared and sheafrotherdon, without whom the sex would have been slightly less silly, and what fun would that have been? :)

( In Rodney's opinion, anybody who thinks that Jessica Fletcher is sweet clearly just isn't paying very close attention. )

Heee, oh, that ending is wonderful :)) Oh, boys!

In my head, she made that fruit into a pie for an ancient and cantankerous Seth Hazlitt. :D

I love this SO MUCH. I love love love how gentle the whole story is—and especially the sort of quiet, inevitable way John and Rodney come together. It has instantly become one of my comfort fics, like Rodney's comfort sweater. And I commend you that I have NO trouble suspending disbelief—it seems utterly natural and obvious that Jessica Fletcher is Rodney's aunt. Of course she is! (You're even making me want to go watch old Murder, She Wrote episodes.) Such a feel-good story, and if you write more in this 'verse, I will be first in line to read it. :D

Hee, I'm so glad! The roomie and I keep watching episodes on DVD and noticing new things. "Look how she just conned that guy into asking her out!" "Look, look! All you have to do to get her to do something is question her ability to do something!" There's a series-of-vignettes story percolating in my head where ten-year-old Meredith wanders 'round Cabot Cove with his Aunt Jess, helping her solve little mysteries like Encyclopedia Brown. ^.^

That song definitely is insidious. o.O

So glad that you enjoyed! :D

Marvelous! I've always had a soft spot for Jessica Fletcher, and I can totally see her corralling Rodney and John that way. (And the sex was quite nice.) Silly boys, good thing JB Fletcher was there to knock some sense into them.
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:43 am (UTC)
Hee. It's hard not to love her, even though she is a nosy old biddy. Corralling is what she does. :)
Aug. 26th, 2009 05:37 pm (UTC)
Awww. Very sweet story. Eeee-Jessica Fletcher!
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:44 am (UTC)
Yay, thank you! And agreed. I have only squee for Jessica. \o/
Aug. 26th, 2009 07:04 pm (UTC)

Really, ridiculously delightful. And has the just-enough-emo thing going on too. Poor John! Thank you!
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:44 am (UTC)
Hee, thank you so much! Emo is a tricky thing to balance just right. ;)

This is fabulous. I would adore to see Jessica on Atlantis. No idea how that would work without blowing all the basic connon rules out of the water but it would be awesome.
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:45 am (UTC)
Thank you! I also think Jessica + Atlantis would be fabulous. I still haven't figured out how it could work, but give me time... ;)
Aug. 26th, 2009 07:18 pm (UTC)
This is absolutely wonderful!
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:45 am (UTC)
Thank you! :)

Thankee. ^.^
Aug. 26th, 2009 08:53 pm (UTC)
This was absolutely delightful. I hope you show us more of the boys' interaction with Jessica.
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:46 am (UTC)
Thank you! I certainly plan for there to be more - this 'verse seems to have me pretty firmly by the brain. ;)
Aug. 26th, 2009 09:25 pm (UTC)
Lovely, I want to see John receiving a 'cool' sweater now.
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:46 am (UTC)
Hee, I suspect she's shopping for yarn on the Internet as we speak...

...oh, no. Wait. That's me. ;)

Thank you. :D
Aug. 26th, 2009 10:14 pm (UTC)
Oh, WIN. This whole thing is just solid gold WIN! It's a comfort fic, it's hot, it's so incredibly them - and Jessica Fletcher's relationship to Rodney McKay is now absolutely part of my personal canon.

Thank you so much!

Hee! I can't seem to get it out of my head anymore, which is greatly entertaining for moments when I'm watching Murder, She Wrote. Apparently I have ruined my roommate's life, but I feel fair apportioning at least some of the blame to her. ;)

Sweet Dancing Hippie Jesus!

I feel that you should be simultaneously locked in a padded cell and commended. This was a totally out-of-nowhere cross and I loved it.

I used to watch the show with my Granny, and we became convinced that Jessica was actually a hypnotist serial killer. Hey, it makes sense.

Anyways, as part of me wants to read more, like a meeting of Ronon and Jessica. Ronon needs some mothering, I think.

All in all, pretty cool, if insane.

I feel that you should be simultaneously locked in a padded cell and commended.

I think you've encapsulated the entire SGA fandom experience, right there. ;)

What a wonderful read. I enjoyed every paragraph it was so wonderful. I loved the interaction with John and Rodney and I just loved Jessica and her knowing ways.
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:49 am (UTC)
Thank you so much!
Aug. 27th, 2009 12:00 am (UTC)
*sigh* So happy-making.
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:49 am (UTC)
Hee! Thanks! :)

YOu've managed to combine two of my favorite shows of all time into one really amazing universe. The best part being that it is completely believable.

The ending was nice and I was very happy for the boys but I have to say that my favorite bit was when Rodney is going through his summers in Maine. It just paints such a lovely picture and it was nice to see Frank, everyone tends to forget him.

I don't know if you plan to write more in this vein but I'm definitely loving it.

Re: GUH!
it was nice to see Frank, everyone tends to forget him

If there is more Sweater 'Verse, there will definitely be more Frank. And grumbling about what an ass Rodney's father was, because I'm petty that way and Frank Fletcher, by all accounts, had a big fat mouth. ;)
Aug. 27th, 2009 12:33 am (UTC)
I just loved this! You had me tearing up when Rodney was looking at John's scars and confessing he was afraid of him dying, then laughing aloud at the phone call from Jessica and John's revelation of what she'd said. Wonderful!
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:51 am (UTC)
Hee, thank you! It's always an accomplishment to manage all of those things in one story. ^.^
Aug. 27th, 2009 12:47 am (UTC)
That was pure genius! I absolutely loved it. You're Jessica was spot on and funny and Rodney and John were great too. Please, please, please don't let this be the end. I would love to see Christmas with the whole crazy gang.
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:53 am (UTC)
Thank you! No promises of course, but I expect there will be more! Often I don't seem to have much choice in the matter. ;)
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:07 am (UTC)
Wonderful!! *draws big hearts all over*

Aug. 27th, 2009 01:53 am (UTC)
Hee, thank you! \o/

Are your ears ringing?

My triumphant squee! of geriatric fangirl glee surely reached frequencies that could easily bounce off satellites and reach the other side of the planet, no worries!

OMG, you wrote more in this 'verse! Bless you, bless you!

It was wooooooooooonderful. Jessica as Rodney's great-aunt just *works* for me, and I loved it, loved it, loved it.

Of course, I want more. I'm greedy that way. And can't you just see Jessica sweetly prying more and more information out of everyone. The SGC, the IOA, the Trust?!

Ronon and Jessica!

*pause for a moment of sheer glee*

Teyla and Jessica would be thick as thieves within a heartbeat.

*blithers merrily*

What a treat! Thank you for writing more... and I hope to see more of this 'verse, please, please, please, pretty please with very pretty dancing boys on top.
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:53 am (UTC)
Ha ha yes, there are so many possibilities. Thank you so much! :D
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:31 am (UTC)
Lovely story and while I never would have considered JB Fletcher in a SGA story, it totally worked. And to know that Rodney had an aunt like her makes it all warm and fuzzy. She was no nonsense and so perfect for the role.

And the ending... awesome!
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:54 am (UTC)
Thank you! Warm fuzzies were exactly what I was going for. :D
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:38 am (UTC)
This fic made my day--it was just the right blend of everything I enjoy. I loved your John--he was in full panic mode, scared and trying to withdraw, but he wasn't cold or cruel. I loved Rodney and his complex relationship with his aunt. The way they finally came together was lovely, sweet, and hot. Everyone who said it's a comfort fic is absolutely right--I 'll be reading this one again and again!
Aug. 27th, 2009 01:54 am (UTC)
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed. ^.^
Aug. 27th, 2009 03:01 am (UTC)
This is simply lovely -- pining, supportive John; and Rodney's nervousness that Jessica has angry at him at this time; and his respect for the way she can be just as caustic as he is, only politely; and her wonderful support of him; and her naughty streak, hee!; and the way Rodney takes an hour to reorder his worldview and then promptly marches across the hall to take action; and the stunted way the two guys try to communicate. So, so wonderful. I would love to see more if you find more to tell -- whether that's Jessica in Atlantis or the Meredith-as-her-Encyclopedia-Brown-assitant possibility you mentioned in another comment. Wonderful!
Aug. 30th, 2009 07:39 pm (UTC)
Thank you! I haven't figured out how to credibly place Jessica in Atlantis, but I keep trying.. ;)
Aug. 27th, 2009 03:11 am (UTC)
OMIGOD, awesome crossover! Of course, Rodney's pretty lucky: usually whenever Jessica visits family, there's almost immediately a murder, and her relative is invariably arrested for committing it.
Aug. 30th, 2009 07:39 pm (UTC)
I figure Rodney's own weirdness radius might cancel that out, but only time will tell. :)
