Help?

I am experiencing what can only be described as a brain stoppage, and thus am having trouble with math. (Not that I don't always have trouble with math.)

If something happens, say, a mutation of some kind, only once in every 600,000 births, what percentage of the global population would that be? Assuming that the global population is about six billion.

This is, like, elementary school math, and yet. You all think I'm joking when I say I have a mental math block, but I am SO NOT JOKING, YOU GUYS.

Help? *cuteface*

wouldn't that be division? How many times does 600,000 go into 6 billion?

This might qualify as high school math, if it makes you feel any better.

you'd have approx 10 000 people with the mutation, which gives you a percentage of 1.66x10^-6% or 0.00000166% ie VERY DAMN SMALL %

Okay, so clearly I need to change that ratio, as it needs to be at least a few million people. o.O

Also, when are you coming to visit? I've still got a Comic-Con present for you. ^.^

I'm off pretty much all next week... well, Monday through Friday anyhow, and I have my UPass now, so anytime then.

Also, for say, 2 million people out of 6 billion people to have the mutation, it would be about 3.33x10^-4 which is 0.000333% or 1/3000 births. I think I did that right.

I work 8:30am-5pm the rest of this week, and Aimee is off until start of classes next week, I think. So you should come! Whenever.

P.S. How fast do you think you can read 532 pages? *desperate crazy-person face*

two, three days, if it's good. Now I can pretty much just bring anything to read to work and read it there - I have so much free time there, its crazy.

Ah, well, I don't have a hardcopy, at least right now. I can probably have another printed, I suppose, unless you can make do with an electronic copy...?

if it's Riverwend, I have up until chapter 17 you sent me in May, unless it's changed since then.

Also - I would prefer a hard copy, but I could theoretically bring an electronic copy on a flash drive and read it that way as well.
